There are NO AUDITIONS; you can join any time during the choir year!

We embrace ALL voices and levels of experience - whether an experienced singer or new to singing, you’ll find a warm and inclusive musical community here.

At Out of the Blue Chorus, we celebrate community and the joy of singing together. Every week is a chance to lift your voice, connect with others, and share the magic of rock, pop, gospel, and folk music in harmony.

In the Fall Session, we will sing songs featuring music by legendary artists like:

Sing.

Singing is at the heart of the OOTB Chorus.

As a non-auditioned group, we believe everyone has a voice worth sharing, regardless of experience or skill level.

We encourage our members to embrace their unique vocal qualities, enjoy singing while improving their vocal skills through fun and supportive rehearsals and professional coaching, and enjoy a diverse repertoire that enriches our collective sound.

Connect.

Connection is the cornerstone of our community.

We aim to foster an inclusive and welcoming environment where members can build meaningful relationships through the shared love of music. Connecting strengthens our choir's sense of unity and belonging.

We also aim to connect with our audience, reaching out through our performances to inspire others with our energy and passion.

Belong.

We are committed to creating a space where everyone feels welcome and valued, regardless of background, experience, or identity.

OOTB Chorus celebrates diversity and believes that our differences make us stronger and the music we sing richer.

We strive to create an inclusive environment where every member feels they belong, their voice matters and their presence is valued.

Inspire.

Share your passion for music and singing through vibrant rehearsals and performances that uplift and motivate.

At OOTB Chorus, we believe that bringing enthusiasm and energy to rehearsals helps inspire our audiences and each other. Member Resources

As a member of OOTB Chorus, you are provided sheet music and practice audio for our songs. These are provided as supplemental learning tools, and while there is no requirement to read music or have prior singing experience, our members learn to interact with sheet music in addition to learning by ‘ear’ and repetition.

If you have musical experience or read music, fantastic! You will find our arrangements fun and also challenging.

Weekly Rehearsals

OOTB Chorus meets Tuesday evenings from 7 to 9 p.m. at St. Thomas United Church in North Calgary for a two-hour fun and energetic rehearsal.

Rehearsals cover foundational vocal techniques in the songs we sing. We believe learning about our voices and how they work increases the enjoyment of singing and allows members to sing healthfully and sustainably. Elements of breathing and sound production are also covered, giving our members a foundation to build and grow their singing experience.

Sing with Friends

When you join us, we will help guide you to one of the three sections that best suits your voice— the upper, middle, or lower part.

You won’t have to sing alone.
Each section of the choir is surrounded by supportive and encouraging members with various levels of musical experience and backgrounds who share a passion for learning and singing.

Songs and Music

Our director Tyler Fitzgerald and other musicians and arrangers work with the OOTB Chorus to create unique arrangements of our songs.

In the 2024/25 Season, get ready to be inspired as we’ll sing a diverse range of songs. From the timeless melodies of Billy Joel and The Beatles to the energetic tunes of Roxewtte, we have something for everyone. We'll also sing some classic Christmas songs and a new gospel song, adding a unique flavor to our repertoire.

Gettin’ Social

Community and connection are highly valued in OOTB Chorus. Singing is the shared passion that keeps us all coming every week anticipating what we can accomplish. Community is the glue that holds it all together.

We love to laugh, have a good time together as music lovers, and organize socials during choir year.

If you have any ideas for community outreach, please get in touch with our team!
