Christine Spencer
OOTB Team
Hello! My name is Christine, and I’ve been a proud member of the Out of the Blue Chorus since its beginning. I love it! Singing with the choir each week is something I cherish; it's an opportunity to learn, grow, and be surrounded by positive energy. I feel fortunate to share these choir nights with my mom and the amazing friends we've made who continually find new ways to make me laugh!
Professionally, I’m a registered nurse and love what I do! I'm a mom to two wonderful kids who constantly bring joy and laughter. I’m also an avid crafter. I love getting creative and always have some projects on the go, whether knitting, scrapbooking, or making homemade gifts. Crafting is my way of relaxing and expressing myself, and I love the satisfaction of creating something unique with my hands.

Hello! My name is Ashley. I am married and have two wonderful boys. I stay active with my sons' school, serving as the school council president and volunteering at various events whenever possible.
Music has always been a big part of my life. I’ve played the piano, participated in school choirs and bands, and enjoyed performing in musical theatre. For the past five years, I’ve been singing in adult choirs and currently sing with the Out of the Blue Chorus. In addition to singing, I help with weekly sign-ins and lend a hand wherever possible to support our choir community!
Our Story
How We Found Our Voice
Out of the Blue Chorus was created out of a passion for building an inclusive and vibrant musical community. Our goal is simple: to provide a welcoming space where anyone who loves to SING can explore their voice, expand their musical horizons, and express themselves freely—without fear or judgment. Whether you’re an experienced singer or brand new to choir, you are welcome here.
Our Mission
As we celebrate our 5th Season, Out of the Blue Chorus continues to empower members to discover creativity through unique arrangements of rock, pop, folk, and gospel-inspired songs. We believe singing is a joyful, transformative experience that belongs to everyone—no auditions, no prior experience required. You don’t need to read music or have any formal training; bring your voice and an openness to connect. Our singers come from diverse backgrounds, each bringing their unique story and energy to our community.
SING. CONNECT.
BELONG. INSPIRE.
Our weekly rehearsals are more than just practice—they are a place to connect, find a sense of belonging, and share inspiration through music. Together, we create a supportive environment where every voice is valued and matters. This spirit carries into our concerts, where the joy of performance deepens our sense of community and shared purpose. Singing and learning together isn’t just fun—it’s enriching, uplifting, and transformative.
Our Passions
Collaboration
We believe every voice deserves to be heard and celebrated. Our collaborative approach begins in rehearsal, where each member contributes to shaping our choir’s sound and community spirit.
Past concerts have featured collaborations with Central Memorial High School, Bishop Carroll High School, The Latin Community Choir, Blend Vocal Association, The Calgary Youth Singers (Encore, ACT3), Campus Choir from the University of Calgary, and other arts groups, as well as foundations, bringing together a diverse range of voices to celebrate the power of music.
Education
“OOTB places a large emphasis on helping to expand the musical language of our members.”
At Out of the Blue, we are passionate about helping members grow musically while enjoying the many benefits of singing. Singing relieves stress, boosts confidence, and supports overall well-being. We provide learning materials to make singing accessible to everyone, including those new to choirs or music reading. By building trust and expanding musical language, we show how music education enriches not only rehearsal and performance but also daily life.
