Code of Conduct/Rehearsal Etiquette

At Out of the Blue Chorus, we are committed to fostering an inclusive, respectful, and creative environment where every member feels valued and supported. Our Code of Conduct serves as a guide to uphold these principles and ensure everyone can participate fully and freely in our community.

Code of Conduct for: Out of the Blue Chorus

Respect for All: Treat every choir member with dignity and respect, regardless of their background, identity, or beliefs. We celebrate diversity and recognize every individual's unique contribution to our community.

Inclusivity: Create an atmosphere of inclusivity where everyone feels welcome and valued. Be mindful of language and actions to avoid behaviour that may exclude or marginalize others.

Supportive Community: Encourage and assist your fellow choir members when needed. We are here to uplift each other and foster a sense of camaraderie, support, and community.

Rehearsals

Active Listening: Practice active listening during rehearsals and performances. Respect the opinions and contributions of others, and refrain from interrupting or talking over the director while teaching parts or working on musical sections. This helps all members engage actively with the instructional element.

Creative Expression: Embrace creative expression and experimentation in musical endeavours. Be open to trying new ideas, exploring different styles, and collaborating with others to create beautiful music together.

Safe Space: Create a safe and nurturing space where members feel comfortable expressing themselves creatively. Refrain from engaging in behaviour that may cause others harm, discomfort, or offence.

Confidentiality: Respect the privacy and confidentiality of your fellow choir members. Do not share personal information or private discussions without consent.

Responsibility: Take responsibility for your actions and their impact on the choir community. Be accountable for upholding the values and standards outlined in this Code of Conduct.

Continuous Improvement: Strive for continuous personal and collective growth. Be open to feedback, learning opportunities, and self-reflection to enhance our community and musical experiences.

In addition to our general Code of Conduct, the following guidelines apply specifically to our Facebook group, which serves as an extension of the OOTB Chorus community:

Respectful Communication: Maintain a respectful and courteous tone in all interactions on the Facebook group. Refrain from using derogatory language, personal attacks, or inflammatory remarks.

Positive Engagement: Foster a positive and uplifting atmosphere on the Facebook group by sharing encouraging messages, celebrating achievements, and supporting fellow members.

Relevant Content: Ensure that posts and comments on the Facebook group are relevant to the choir community and its activities. Refrain from sharing unrelated content or engaging in discussions not pertinent to the group's purpose.

Confidentiality: When sharing information on the Facebook group, respect the privacy and confidentiality of choir members. Do not disclose personal details or private discussions without consent.

No Spam or Promotion: Please do not spam the group with excessive promotional content or unrelated advertisements. Promotional posts should be relevant to the choir community and approved by Out of the Blue Chorus.

Compliance with Facebook Policies: Adhere to Facebook's Community Standards and Guidelines when posting content or engaging in discussions on the group. Report any violations or inappropriate behaviour to group moderators.

Respect for Group Rules: Follow the rules and guidelines outlined by group administrators and moderators. Failure to comply may result in removal from the group.

Supportive Environment: Use the Facebook group to offer support, share resources, and connect with fellow choir members outside rehearsals and performances.

Enjoyment and Participation: Feel free to participate actively in the Facebook group to enhance your experience as a member. Share your experiences, insights, and enthusiasm for the choir with the community.
