A note from Tyler…
The energy in the room on Tuesday night was fantastic! I could hear from the first few warmup notes that we were in the groove!
As I mentioned Tuesday, I’ll be away on our family vacation in Mexico next week! I’m looking forward to relaxing and hanging out with our niece Sienna on Kyla’s side, who just turned three this year and loves baseball and all things music - so, needless to say, we get along famously :)
We’re grateful to have Peter taking the reins at rehearsal next week. As you know, he brings a passion for singing, community, and a skill set that will continue to help us grow and expand musically. We have a great team at OOTB!

Out of the Blue Chorus. More information will be sent soon!Tyler’s Recital - Saturday, May 11th, 2pm @ St. Stephen’s Church
I am excited to share something that has been in the works for a while - a recital with my friend and colleague, Laura Brandt! I met Laura as a young artist at the Calgary Opera Company and she now owns and operates a voice, piano, and teaching studio with over 90 students in Calgary! She is a great teacher and fabulous singer, and her husband, Evan Mounce, will accompany us on piano for the recital. The program will include music by Mozart, French composer Maurice Ravel, Jake Heggie, music theatre duets, and some musical surprises! We’ve also included a few pieces to celebrate Mother's Day weekend. It would be great to see you there!
Tickets will be available on my website through Eventbrite next week. We will include the link in next week’s newsletter. It would be great to have you there!
Next Rehearsal - April 16th
Be ready to rock and work through songs included in the concert program for June 7th (PDF attached below). Peter will be working on certain songs emphasizing memory and musical details, which will help bring our songs even more to life than they already are!
Musical Moment
Cyndi Hits the Wall
By Brent Moore
You may think of Cyndi Lauper as the mellow singer on OOTB’s Time After Time. However, Cyndi played a big role in one of the most epic rock concerts ever, Pink Floyd’s The Wall. It was in Berlin in 1990, where the Wall had just come down a few months before. During the concert, a huge wall was constructed on stage (170 m wide x 25 m high). Then, at the show's end, it also came tumbling down. Numerous guest artists were featured, from Joni Mitchell to Van Morrison. But one of the best was Cyndi Lauper. Not only her singing and energy but also that great HAIR! Here she is, on Another Brick in the Wall.
An extra treat is Cyndi dancing around Thomas Dolby at the end, who plays a solo on a handheld synth. I was blown away when I saw The Wall concert in 2012 in Edmonton—it is my favourite rock show of all time.
