A note from Tyler…
Thank you for a great rehearsal last week. I can see and hear all the work you’re putting in regarding memory and engagement with the songs. It’s evident, and I commend you all.
Tuesday is going to be exciting! We’ll have our percussionist, Taylor, with us, so we’ll get things really movin’ and groovin’.
Ticket sales for the concert are going well—we’ve sold 120 tickets already, which is a good sign!
Announcements
Concert Email Invite
You should have received the general mailing list email for our concert. You can share this directly with your friends, family, and colleagues or forward it to them, as I know not everyone is on Facebook.
May 28th - Rehearsal extended to 9:15 pm.
We plan to extend rehearsal by 15 minutes tomorrow (May 28). Given that our regular rehearsal time is until 9 PM, we understand if you can’t stay or have prior commitments. Still, if you can make this work, it’ll just give us some extra time to polish the program.
Song Notes
‘Teach Your Children’— please have a look and listen to your parts here. This song has the potential to strike a real chord with the audience. It will have tremendous power to do this a capella, but it needs to be solid. I know we can do it:)
Announcing the 2024/25 Season!
We’re excited to say the season dates, main concert schedule, and community voice workshop are now on the website. It’s hard to believe we’re entering OOTB’s fourth Season! This one promises to be exciting, with great songs to sing, community engagement events and appearances, and the promise of continuing to grow our supportive musical community.
Take a look at the website's new homepage HERE for more details.
Tomorrow’s Rehearsal - May 28th
Taylor, our drummer and percussionist for the concert, will be with us tomorrow.
He’ll play various percussion instruments for our songs and join Eileen as the backbone of the ‘rhythm section.’
First Half: Focus on ‘Africa’ and ‘Teach Your Children.’
Second Half: We’ll do our best to sing through the program (from memory) to get a sense of the flow and feel of the concert order (which I will announce tomorrow and send out in PDF form later this week with the program.
Address any concerns or trouble spots musically.
Let’s bring our best energy and groove tomorrow and reign in the chatter while sections work on parts. It’s very challenging for me and others to listen and learn while people talk around them. I appreciate your diligence in this.
Practice Audio Life Hack…
Brent has generously put together a very helpful idea for members to establish a playlist for the practice audio to help with lyrics and memory. Please see the attached PDF document for step-by-step instructions on how to download it to your cellphone. It’s all FREE and EASY!
