A Message from Tyler…

I hope you all had a great weekend :)

On Sunday, I had the pleasure of performing with the Calgary Bach Society, a group I’ve sung often with. The program was fantastic, there were choirs from the University of Calgary and members of the Calgary Philharmonic in the orchestra. I think I spotted a few familiar faces in the audience— a really lovely surprise! I realized I forgot to share the concert details beforehand, but I’m excited to have some fun performances coming up in the spring that I’ll be sure to keep you updated on.

Now, enough about me! As we approach our concert, “OOTB & Friends: A Celebration of Song,” there’s lots of information to dive into. I’m excited for the next couple of weeks of rehearsals and to rock with you tomorrow.

Week Ten Announcements

Reminder: OOTB Workshop

Saturday, November 23rd, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

If you are attending the workshop, please use this LINK to register. As we’ve said, it is an important time to refine our songs as well as get to know some members of the choir community we might not have a chance to interact with on a regular Tuesday!

Playlist Creator for Practice Audio

Brent Moore (bass) has graciously put together a tutorial for adding practice tracks to your device (phone, IPAD, computer, etc.) through a convenient, easy-to-use app that you can download for free.

A PDF with detailed instructions can be downloaded HERE

This was very helpful for members of last season's spring concert, and it can be used again to memorize and work on parts for the fall concert. If you have questions, you can see Brent at the break on Tuesday. It’s all straightforward and an excellent supplementary tool for memorizing parts and working on memory work on songs.

Concert Song List

Here is a Printable PDF of the songs we will perform at the concert.

NOTE: The order of the songs is TBD and will be confirmed in the coming weeks as we finalize the program.

Dress Rehearsal and Concert Schedule

Here is a Printable PDF of the December 3rd dress rehearsal and December 6th concert schedule with a breakdown of timing and an agenda for each night. We will talk about this tomorrow night.

Christmas Singalong in the Community!

Jen Erno, a member of our soprano section, is teaming up with former member Sara for a holiday sing-along at the Edgemont Seniors’ Residence on December 21st at 2 PM! This is a wonderful chance to connect with the community, meet fellow singers, and enjoy singing festive Christmas music.

Next Rehearsal - November 19th

  • The drummer and our new bass player have been rescheduled to join us on November 26th! We thought it would be best to focus on vocals for one more week before bringing in additional instrumental pieces.

  • Review and finish learning ‘Stand by Me’. You did great this Tuesday, so we’ll keep the ball rolling. The practice audio will be ready tomorrow.

  • Incorporate ‘Rain Song’ into our warmup. We’ll sing this piece with some fun percussion and bass at the concert.

  • Sing as many of the remaining songs on the program as possible to get a real sense of what we need to focus on learning-wise.

  • Number ONE, ABOVE ALL: Have fun singing and making noise together! It’s great to have a concert to build and work towards, but we want to keep the main thing the main thing, having fun, connecting, and making music together.

  • “LET’S GOOOOOOOOO!”
