A Message from Tyler…

Congrats to everyone for a fantastic rehearsal on Tuesday with the band. The room had good energy and focus, and we’re hitting our stride at the right time :)

There are spots in the music for all of us (we all know what these are for ourselves), and I trust you will utilize the practice audio to help cement the areas that may be unsure for you.

I look forward to our dress rehearsal tomorrow night at Grace Presbyterian Church!

Shoes: Please wear or bring the shoes you plan to wear for the performance. This will help with balance and sight lines for the stage set-up.

Dress: Feel free to wear your ‘street clothes’ for rehearsal tomorrow night. For the concert, it will be all black. Skirts and dress pants for men and women are preferred over dark jeans. Members will receive an OOTB-coloured scarf from Ashley or Christine tomorrow night, and you will hand it back in after the performance.

Please meet in the Family Room, where you can store your things for the evening. The Family Room is located up the south entrance stairs and down the hall on your left. We will wait here while SPIRIT and BLEND perform their songs.

Dress Rehearsal & Concert Notes

  • There will be a lot of moving parts tomorrow night. We'd appreciate your patience and attention when setting everyone's position on the risers and the stage. Keeping the talking to a minimum between songs while we work on details will help maximize our time tomorrow night.

  • Song Order: You will receive an order of songs tomorrow night. Come prepared to sing/work through everything on the concert list.

  • Heads up and Connect with the Conductor—even if you plan to hold a binder, it is essential to the ensemble's success to have all eyes up at EVERY musical entrance, looking at the conductor and out to the audience.

  • Remember, this concert is a way to celebrate the fantastic work we’ve done together as a choir and is not about trying to obtain perfection. We’ve done a great job on the songs we have prepared for the night, and I’m proud of everyone for stepping up to the musical challenges put in front of you this fall.

We’ve grown immensely as an ensemble, have a full sound, and are gelling as a group. We have two other fun vocal groups performing with us Friday, and no matter what happens, we are there to have fun, connect with the audience and the musical communities of Calgary, and show our audience a great time with our rockin’ energy and positive vibes :)

Let’s make this a fabulous and enjoyable way to spread some holiday cheer, sing our hearts out for those who have taken the time to be there and celebrate with us, and enjoy the great work we’ve done together this fall in song.
